A Step-by-Step Guide: How to Decorate Your Mantle for Fall and the Thanksgiving Holiday It may be hard to believe but Thanksgiving is fast approaching! Are you looking for ways to give your home – and specifically your fireplace mantle – a festive holiday makeover? You’ve come to the right place! Here’s our step-by-step guide to take your mantle from drab to Fall fab this year. Step 1 – Start with a Clean Mantle Remove any items from your mantle, give it a quick dusting and then you’ll be ready to start with a fresh canvas, so to speak, as you start your holiday decorating! Step 2 – Lay Out your Fall Garland Add two six foot sections of fall garland across your mantle. We pinned ours to the wall with two pushpins to be sure the garland stayed in place exactly where we wanted it. The fall garland is bendable, so shape it on your mantle in a way that makes it look full and also allows room for the other pieces you’ll be adding. Step 3 – Place Your Fall Wreath Hang your Fall Wreath over your mantle. We’ve placed ours on top of our mirror for an added visual effect. However, you can place your Fall Wreath directly on the wall. Step 4 – Add Fall-Themed Accessories to Your Mantle Now comes the fun part! To add some really festive and fall-themed looks to your mantle, add two candle holders (we've chosen purple) with two battery operated candles. And then two autumn candle rings to go around the base of the candle holders. Then to the inside of each candle holder, place a wheat stack to add a beautiful fall-themed touch to your mantle! Step 5 – Put the Finishing Touches on Your Fall Thanksgiving Holiday Mantle Your autumn holiday mantle is almost done! To give it some final touches, place six Ponderosa Pine Cones throughout your mantle display. Then put a small squash or gourd in the middle of the mantle. You can see in the photo below, we also added some white holiday lights to our display for an extra touch. Step 6 – The Finished Fall and Thanksgiving Holiday Mantle! Here’s a look at your finished holiday mantle! If you want to take it a step further and add even more decoration to the room, you can add the candle with the autumn candle ring to your table as a centerpiece. It’s perfect for Thanksgiving or another holiday meal with family and friends!
